The original bid from CDOT included 4 phases of PCCP concrete paving planned for 2021, and the second contract was from the City of Brush to replace the water main. IHC Scott proposed to complete both contracts simultaneously, in a single phase, in a shortened timeframe.
With their innovative proposal, IHC Scott saved the City and CDOT a significant amount of money and time while minimizing the impact on local businesses.
The total scope of work for both contracts included replacing asphalt with the concrete paving across several blocks. More than 8,000 square yards of concrete paving was completed, and 2,500 cubic yards of concrete went into 800 feet of sidewalk, curb and gutter, and 13 ADA ramps. Work also included replacing a 10-inch waterline, lowering three utility crossings, and replacing storm drains at three intersections.
IHC Scott used three teams simultaneously to maximize efficiency. The dirt crew, pipe crew, and paving crew collaborated in constant meetings to organize equipment to complete the job.
In just over 2 months, all work was completed. The City of Brush and CDOT were grateful for the staggering amount of work that IHC Scott accomplished in the short timeline.
