Gates B13 & B14 Construction Paving Denver International

The addition of gates B13 and B14 at Denver International Airport (DEN) included demolition of the existing pavements and construction of new pavement for aircraft parking with the extension of the taxiway along the south side of Concourse B. Swinerton Construction was the prime contractor for the building construction and subcontracted the civil work to IHC.

The existing pavements were removed and hauled to DEN’s crushing facility. 19,300 sy of cement treated Base Course, 22,500 sy of bond breaker fabric and 27,600 sy of stabilization geotextile were needed to prepare for the 22,200 sy of 17” – 21” PCCP. A Vehicle Service Road was removed and reconstructed with 17,250 cy of CDOT Class 6 aggregate base course and 2,750 tons of HMA.

The project scope also included reconstruction of the jet fuel and glycol systems, airfield electrical, drainage and pavement marking.
