Scramble for a Cause

We are excited to announce that the 2023 Scramble for a Cause was a remarkable success! Held on July 28 at the Rifle Creek Golf Course, IHC Scott’s charity golf tournament brought together customers and employees for a day of camaraderie, competition, and support for a great cause.

“Today, we teed off to make sure children don’t have school lunch debt—a cause we deeply care about,” said Abby Capwell, who managed the event. “It was incredible to see the camaraderie displayed throughout the tournament, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the support of everyone involved.”

The four-person scramble event raised $12,650 in funds for Garfield School District No. Re-2. The money will help ensure hundreds of students in need are always provided with lunch and that they aren’t in debt because of it.

Meal Monkey took charge of serving breakfast for the event. Meal Monkey is part of the school district’s summer meal program providing lunches to underprivileged kids at local parks during the summer. The program started in Rifle, Colorado, and has since expanded to Silt and New Castle.

During the past school year, Meal Monkey served 238,850 meals to kids in the community. So far this summer, they’ve served 8,341 meals. Without this valuable service, it’s possible that many children in the area under the age of 18 would go hungry.

“We can’t thank IHC Scott enough for the very generous donation,” said Mary McPHee, Director of Nutrition Services at Garfield County Re-2. “We will apply $2,108 to each of the elementary schools in our three communities to help with school lunch debt.”

On the green, teams of talented golfers showcased their skills on the course, and our generous sponsors provided sponsorships of holes while contributing prizes and fundraising along the way.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all employees, customers, sponsors, and donors who made this event a success. Your support was invaluable to making an impact for children of the Garfield School District.
