Brandon Harmon

Brandon Harmon isn’t just a typical assistant equipment manager; he’s a seasoned construction industry veteran with over two decades of experience.

Starting as an apprentice mechanic for Wagner Equipment, his current job at IHC Scott requires him to ensure the company’s equipment runs smoothly and safely.

“I’ve been around this industry for a long time,” Brandon said. “There’s always something to do, always something to fix, always a challenge.”

He’s been at IHC Scott for five years now and is loving every minute of it.

“I worked on several IHC Scott jobs as a field mechanic for Wagner,” Brandon said. “I had ‘peaked’ over there and was thinking about finding a new opportunity.

“One of my coworkers came over here, and he brought me over. And then I brought a few of my coworkers from there to IHC Scott as well. This is a whole different world from the one I came from at Wagner, but I love it.”

His main motivation for staying at IHC Scott has been the company’s culture which allows him to truly feel valued.

“I love the people here,” Brandon said. “And I love our parent company, Clyde Companies. You’re not just a number here, no matter how big the company gets. That’s what I enjoy.”

Brandon is responsible for making sure all the equipment is in good working order and takes pride in his work and in the equipment he helps maintain.

“We do a lot of maintenance, a lot of repairs,” Brandon said. “We try to keep everything as safe as possible, which is a priority. It’s all got a purpose, and it’s all got a function. And if you don’t have it, you can’t do your job.”

He works closely with the equipment operators to make sure they understand how to use the equipment properly to avoid incidents that require his assistance.

“We don’t just give them the keys and say, ‘Go have fun,’” Brandon said. “We want to make sure they know what they’re doing and that they’re doing it safely.”

His attention to detail hasn’t gone unnoticed by his supervisor, Steve Axelson, who serves as the equipment manager.

“Brandon’s dedication to his work is unparalleled,” Steve said. “As an experienced mechanic turned manager, he holds his team to the same standards that he holds himself.

“His upbeat attitude, work ethic, and extensive knowledge in his field make him an asset to our team. Brandon is a highly organized and team-focused individual who is always willing to lend a helping hand and share his expertise.”

It might take a while for some to see how equipment maintenance helps in Building a Better Community, but Brandon knows that as he does his part, he’ll always feel rewarded.

“It’s not always easy, and it’s very hands-on work,” Brandon said. “But that’s what makes it interesting. This really is a great place to be.”
