Removal and replacement on I-80 Wyoming Line to Bushnell

The Project consists of complete removal and replacement of I-80 from the Wyoming Line to just E. of the Bushnell exit (9.52 miles), replacing 4 bridges, replacing the asphalt overlay on L53B (exit 1 link road to State Hwy 30 and Pine Bluffs), replacing the asphalt overlay on L53C (exit 8 link road to State Hwy 30 and Bushnell), remove and replace the approaches to the overhead bridge at exit 1 (L53B). The project was scheduled to be completed in June of 2020.  Concrete paving was scheduled to be completed in July of 2019.  There was approximately 5 months of work to complete the bridges, final grading, seeding and pavement marking. The schedule was pushed to finish all work items by November 2019. A Value Engineering Proposal (VEP) was proposed to the NDOT on this project to not remove any of the Cement Treated Base (CTB) but to reprocess it into the subgrade.  This helped to eliminate any of the originally proposed fly ash stabilization as well as reduce the amount of borrow material that was originally required, resulting in a savings to the NDOT of $1,300,000.00 in fly ash stabilization and $86,000.00 in borrow material.  The NDOT is utilizing this method in all future projects.
