SH-13 Concrete Paving

The I-35 Garvin County project is a full reconstruction of 3.1 miles of Interstate 35 between Oklahoma City, OK and Dallas, TX. The project scope includes the removal of existing pavement and unclassified excavation to the new subgrade elevation. The new roadway section includes 8 in. stabilized subgrade, 8 in. aggregate base course, 3 in. hot mix asphalt layer, and 12 in. dowel jointed PCC pavement.

The project started in May of 2021 with the initial construction of the five median crossovers to facilitate head-to-head traffic configuration and maintain traffic to the six ramps within the project limits.

The project resumed in mid-October 2021 and work has been ongoing ever since. The project team battled through cold winter months to get Phase 1 (Southbound) completed in mid-May and then moved on to the reconstruction of northbound (Phase 2). All crews and subcontractors are hard at work completing Phase 2, with a goal to achieve a normalized traffic configuration in the beginning of September. Final project completion will require the removal of all the temporary cross-overs and median restoration, which completed to take in October 2022.
