McAlester Airport Runway 02-20 Rehabilitation, Oklahoma
The reconstruction of Runway 2/20 consisted of removal and replacement of 5000’ of the 50’ wide keel and 100’ full width replacement of 1760’ of the runway. The edge lighting was upgraded with LED bulbs and the entire 5,600’ Runway was re-sealed and re-stripped. The typical section consisted of 6” of Concrete Pavement, 4” of Lean Concrete Base, and 6” of Soil Cement Subgrade. The 100 working day project was constructed over the winter of 2018/2019. The weather that winter was wetter than normal allowing an average of only 4 productive working days per week. The project, however, completed within the 100 working days though the overall duration was longer than expected.
